Chrome Extension: 5 minutes

Talk about getting something live fast, I had an idea I wanted to try which was basically – my brain gets distracted so easily that I will open one tab and forget what I was meant to be doing in a heartbeat. Painful I know. I don’t have diagnosed ADHD but this is a symptom that a lot of people talk about. Even if I don’t it doesn’t mean I don’t have this exact problem! Here is what I rambled into Claude:

“I have ADHD and sometimes I forget what task I was focused on when I switch tab. I want to make an extension from Chrome, that I can tap in a little task (just a sentence) and it sticks on top of the browser even when I switch pages. Default set to 5 minutes for the task, but 1 click option to add 5 or 10 minutes. A constant reminder of my task, it needs to look nice, but neat. There should be a 1 click button for task complete that I can press when I complete a task. Tasks completed should be tracked in a backend that the user can drop down to check giving me a score.”

I will add my prompt file to the list.

It ends up looking something like this:

But I can move the it around to wherever I want.

and it continues to countdown. I need to think of a good way to gamify the end of the timer, maybe a it is a power bar that is fading. Otherwise, it’s a clock and some words – any old geezer can make one of them.

I didn’t realize how fast you can have something working in Chrome it’s actually pretty crazy. I doubt I can really charge for anything but I might just try and charge $5 or something. If I can build something that I use and works for me, then I would DEFINITELY pay 5$.

The freemium model could work well… just need to figure out some of the backend and gamification and putting that all together.

Need to sleep on it and get creative tomorrow I think.
